Powerful First Impressions - Tip #2 - Voicemail Professionalism

Sometimes, your voicemail greeting will be the first impression of your professionalism with a potential client, what impression does your voicemail give?

The effectiveness of your greeting can influence the caller to leave you a message … or not — it could even help the caller determine whether they will be doing business with you … or not. What you say and how you say it, has a direct impact on your client’s feelings, decisions and actions.

Tip 1: Don’t use the bland generic voice messages provided by our phone company.
Tip 2: Use your voicemail greeting as an opportunity to remind and/or inform your caller of pertinent information:

You can use voicemail to:

• Announce a new website, product or service
• Offer an alternate method for people to contact you, an email address perhaps.
• Let callers know when you will return calls.

Sample Greeting:

“Hi, this is Jane X with ABC Acme. Please leave a message. I am either with an appointment or just away from my phone. Please visit my website ABCacme.com or email me at Jane@abcAcme.com . (Pause) Once again, that’s Jane@abcAcme.com. (Pause) Thank You and I look forward to connecting with you soon!”

What impression does your voicemail give?
